Pay equal attention to fundamental and practical studies.%u25a0 Fundamental Engineering Research Results:%u2605Many papers have been published in the top 3 or important journals in various fields. He has published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences and five books/book chapters.%u2605 65 IP patents have been granted, 60 of which are invention patents (including 16 from the United States, 3 from Japan, 33 from Taiwan, and 8 from China). Many of these patents have been authorized to the industry. The granted U.S. invention patents have been cited more than 240 times, which shows the high status and fundamental value of these patents.%u2605 Prof. Tsai%u2019s fundamental research ranges from intelligent image processing and analysis, micro-/nano-processes of carbon-based material, and non-traditional processing to further applications in brain science research and emerging energy applications. Among relevant researchers, the number of papers and patents covering both basic scientific research and application fields is exceptionally outstanding, and they are among the very few that cover a wide range of fields and have outstanding results in each field. Prof. Tsai applied carbon-based materials to develop a hand-held atmospheric plasma generator and combined images with intelligent analysis of brain science research, which is highly forwardlooking in leading research.%u25a0 Industry-university cooperation and assistance in industrial development:%u2605 He has successfully carried out industry-university cooperation projects with leading manufacturers such as Largan, TSMC, Delta Electronics, GMM, Fusheng, etc. Since his service in academia, he has served as the host of more than 20 industry-university projects. The results developed with TSMC won its internal Red Apple Award and were expanded to be applied in all TSMC factories.%u2605 Developed intelligent manufacturing technology with Delta Electronics, combining artificial intelligence with image processing and deep learning technology, and implemented industry-university cooperation projects for five consecutive years. It has made substantial contributions to the domestic industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing fields.%u2605 In cooperation with the Intelligent Analysis of Image Processing and the Brain Science Center, a software for 20 fruit flies to simultaneously conduct experiments and monitor social behavior has been developed.
