Prospective of %u201cTECO Award%u201dWe looked forward to TECO home appliances when I was young. Seeing TECO is a kind of quality assurance and warm companionship accompanying our growth. I took an %u201cElectrical Machinery%u201d course while studying at National Tsing Hua University. In addition to learning about electrical machinery, I realized that TECO Motors%u2019 position is second to none in the country. Especially in recent years, with the trend of energy conservation and carbon reduction, if the efficiency of motors can be improved, it will significantly save energy and greatly impact the operation of various driven equipment.%u201cTECO Award%u201d started in 1993 to reward individuals who have made notable contributions to Taiwan%u2019s scientific and technological research and the humanities field with the spirit of %u201cscience, culture and mutual prosperity%u201d. TECO is a leading brand that has invested heavily in research and development in Taiwan for a long time, and the TECO Award also recognizes elites who have long been committed to research and have made high contributions and essential impacts on Taiwan%u2019s industry. This influence must produce fruitful research results and extend to the service population and local care. Therefore, winning the TECO Award is the highest recognition for researchers in their lifetime. The winners of the past 30 awards are all representative and influential scholars and experts in various fields. It is also seen that the previous winners are still active and continue to exert their influence after winning the award. Winning this honour is a tribute to my past efforts. In addition to the high recognition of achievements and active participation in services, I am encouraged to follow the example of previous winners and continue making more meaningful contributions to Taiwan%u2019s industry.History of AchievementsDr. Hung-Yin Tsai obtained a doctorate from the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at NTHU in 1999 and was employed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). After being promoted to manager, he was responsible for the Nano-Engineering Technology Department and the Diamond Thin Film Technology Department. During his service for about six years, Dr. Tsai cooperated well with industry, government and academia. He served as a PI for several large-scale scientific and technical projects. In addition to receiving various awards from ITRI, he also won the %u201cInnovation Technology Award%u201d from the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He was awarded ITRI%u2019s %u201c2008 Elite Program%u201d to study in the UK.When he transferred to teach at the National Taiwan Ocean University, he won the %u201cNational Invention Award%u201d from the MOEA. After being recruited to NTHU in 2008, he engaged in research on intelligent advanced manufacturing, nano-/micro-fabrication, and image processing, developing essential technologies and paying attention to engineering applications and industrial value. In addition to implementing the National Science and Technology Council projects and the NSTC Smart Manufacturing Project Office, he also conducts industryuniversity research with industry leaders to implement research results and technologies to assist industrial development. In terms of applied research, he cooperates with many leading domestic %u7b2c%u4e09%u5341%u4e00%u5c46%u6771%u5143%u734e%uff0e%u79d1%u6280%u985e%u734e%u6a5f%u68b0 / %u6de8%u96f6%u6392%u653e / %u74b0%u5883%u79d1%u6280
