In recent years, he has also led brain projects, heading an interuniversity research team to develop key technologies for brain science. Some of the technologies developed under his leadership have successfully been commercialized, resulting in the spinoff of the company mesoView, which has begun selling products in the pathology market. Due to his contributions to technology development and commercialization, Professor Sun has been recognized with the National Innovation Award (2020), the Future Tech Award (2020), and the Excelsior Award (2022). Professor Sun served as the Deputy Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at NTU, as well as the Chairman of the Photonics Program at the Ministry of Science and Technology.Technical ContributionsProfessor Sun is a recipient of the Ministry of Education Academic Award, has won the NSTC Outstanding Research Award three times, and has received the National Health Research Institutes MERIT Award twice. He has also been honored with the Academia Sinica%u2019s Junior Research Investigators Award, and is a Merit NSTC Research Fellow. Currently, he serves as the President of the Taiwan Photonics Society. Internationally, he has received the C.N. Yang Outstanding Young Researcher Award from the Association of Asian Pacific Physical Society, the Leica Microsystems Innovation Award, and has been recognized as a Fellow by IEEE, SPIE, Optica, and the Royal Microscopical Society.Since returning to Taiwan in 1996, Professor Sun established the UltraFast Optics (UFO) Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics at National Taiwan University (NTU). His work focuses on ultrahigh speed optical communication devices, extreme photonics applications, molecular imaging, nanoultrasonics, and THz photonics. Through forward-looking interdisciplinary research, he has guided NTU students toward global recognition, striving to cultivate top global talents and create leading research fields. Professor Sun advocates for critical experimental training and disruptive engineering thinking, discovering new engineering techniques through solid physical040 041
