Dr. Tsung-Tsong Wu is now the Chairman of board of directors, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). He is also the Emeritus Professor at National Taiwan University.He was graduated from NTU Civil Engineering. Dr. Wu received his Master and Ph.D. degree in theoretical and applied mechanics from Cornell University in 1987. During the past three decades, he has made significant contributions in the research of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices and related sensors, phononic crystals, and nondestructive evaluation of materials. He had been awarded the outstanding research prizes by the National Science Council and Bloch Prize from International Phononics Society in 2015.Furthermore, he has held several administrative posts, mainly namely, Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics (1997-2000), Deputy Executive Secretary of the Science and Technology Advisory Group of the Executive Yuan (2004-2005), Deputy Minister of the National Science Council (2006-2008), President of the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Republic of China (2006-2008). Chairman of the board of directors, ITRI (2016-2017), Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology (2020-2022), and Deputy Convenor of the Board of Science and Technology of Executive Yuan (2016-2023).In recent years, he has served as the Minister without Portfolio of Executive Yuan (2016-2020 & 2022-2024) and the Minister of National Science and Technology Council (2022-2024). He was also the Chairperson both of the NARLabs (National Applied Research Laboratories) (2020-2024) and TASA (Taiwan Space Agency) (2023-2024). He was bestowed the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon which was presented by President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China (2024). He has a passion to fuel industry growth and cross-collaboration on challenges such as geopolitical and sustainability concerns. Through his career, the government and academic experiences give him unique insights into the evolution of key trends for global community. He is energetic and is enthusiastic about the world.
