OURs was established in connection with the 1989 Snails Without Shells Movement, and thus, the core values that we have always upheld are the %u201cuse value,%u201d %u201cfairness,%u201d and %u201cjustice%u201d in the built environment. In practice, we emphasize connecting the power of communities with the power of the public by seeking institutional reforms and viable solutions through advocacy, research, planning, and various initiatives.Frankly speaking, policy advocacy organizations in Taiwan face significant challenges in both financial resources and organizational management. The fact that OURs has been able to persevere and receive recognition is not only due to the continuous efforts of past and present board members and staff, but also thanks to the involvement and cooperation of community partners, friendly organizations, the progressive forces within both administrative and legislative bodies, and the generous support of donors. As OURs often says, %u201cOur City is Accomplished by Us!%u201d It is through everyone%u2019s collective efforts that Taiwan%u2019s urban environment has seen improvement.Looking ahead, OURs will transform the honor of the TECO Award into the driving force to continue moving forward, striving for a better Taiwan and a more just society.
